OKIMUN recognizes delegates whose work reflects the seriousness of Model United Nations at its best: principled diplomacy, intellectual preparation, procedural fluency, and meaningful contribution to committee debate. These distinctions are intended to honor both individual excellence and a broader commitment to the standards of the conference.

Best Delegate

Presented to the delegate who demonstrates exceptional leadership, diplomacy, and command of the committee topic across the full course of debate.

Diplomatic Commendation

Presented to the delegate who stands out for strong negotiation, collaboration, and diplomatic judgment during committee proceedings.

Presented to delegates who contribute constructively and consistently to committee discussion, helping elevate the overall quality of debate.

Best Position Paper

Presented in each committee to the delegate who submits the strongest position paper in clarity, substance, and relevance to the agenda.

Evaluation Criteria

How Recognition
is determined.

Awards are grounded in the standards outlined by the conference and assessed through both conduct and substantive participation within committee.

Demonstrates a deep understanding of the assigned country and communicates that understanding clearly to fellow delegates.

Maintains exemplary delegate conduct in both moderated and unmoderated caucus.

Shows a willingness to negotiate for the benefit of the committee as a whole.

Displays knowledge of United Nations structure and function.

Understands and follows conference procedure and the Code of Conduct.

Actively introduces thoughtful opinions and substantive questions during committee.

Eligibility & Notes

A Best Position Paper award is given in each committee.

Position papers submitted after the stated deadline are not eligible for awards consideration.

Position papers containing plagiarism or the use of AI are not eligible for awards consideration.

Gifts offered to dais members, including souvenirs or flowers, are not considered in awards decisions.
